Pogba’s international teammate identified as replacement as Barcelona ‘offered’ Man United midfielder
An altogether noteworthy pair of updates on the current situation of Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba have been forthcoming on Friday evening.
Pogba’s uncertain future
The subject of Pogba’s Old Trafford future has of course come back to the fore in a major way of late.
This comes with the French midfielder’s current terms in Manchester due to come to an end in less than a year’s time.
In turn, with Pogba fresh off the back of a fine start to the new campaign – which saw him make history with a whopping seven assists across four Premier League appearances – it should come as little surprise to hear that those in a position of power at the Theatre of Dreams are now pushing their midfield enigma to commit his future to the club.
An update on the situation midway through September, meanwhile, pointed towards progress being made towards precisely that.
On the back of United’s Premier League downing of Newcastle, it was revealed that Pogba was ‘leaning towards’ penning a new deal with the Red Devils, having been boosted by the return of Cristiano Ronaldo:

This was followed by a further update on the situation early in October, when French outlet L’Equipe suggested that the 28-year-old is indeed prepared to pen fresh terms in Manchester, albeit only if made the Premier League’s best-paid player.
And, as outlined above, on Friday, a fresh insight into Pogba’s future has been provided.
The info comes courtesy of ESPN, who suggest that the midfielder is inching very much towards the exit door at United.
In fact, it is even claimed that Pogba’s representative, super agent Mino Raiola, has begun sounding out rival clubs over the possibility of a January pre-contract agreement.
All of Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid and, most recently, Barcelona have been contacted in a bid to gauge interest in the recently crowned Nations League champion’s signature.
In the case that Pogba, when all is said and done, does indeed secure a move away from his long-time club, an insight into the man whom the board at Old Trafford are primed to target as his replacement has too been provided by ESPN.
The player in question? Aurelien Tchouameni.
The Red Devils faithful recently made clear their wishes for gifted youngster Tchouameni to be targeted ahead of the winter window, after shining alongside Pogba versus Spain in the Nations League finale.
And now, it appears that such fans could have their wishes granted, albeit with the Monaco star tipped to step in in Pogba’s place, rather than link up with his compatriot at club level.
In terms of a potential fee, Tchouameni is expected to set any interested party back a fee in the region of €50-60 million.
