PlayStation VR2 to Sport See-Through View, Cinematic Mode, Custom Play Zone, More Features

PlayStation VR2 still doesn’t have a launch date, but Sony has unveiled several new features. PS VR2 will come with a new seamless feature that would use the built-in front cameras, so players can see their surroundings without removing the headset. A new broadcast feature will allow PS VR2 players to broadcast live by connecting a PS5 HD camera to their console. He also revealed that these PS VR2 headsets will come with features like a custom game zone, VR mode, and cinematic mode.

Sony has offered a preview of some of the new features of its next-gen PS VR2 virtual reality headset via a blog post. As mentioned earlier, the headset will have a transparent view that will allow players to easily see their surroundings without removing the headset. By pressing the function button on the headset or going to settings in the control center, players will be able to switch between seamless view and viewing PS VR2 content. It should be noted that players will not be able to use this mode to save content.

PS VR2 will also be compatible with a PS5 HD camera that will allow them to record themselves while playing a game. This feature is apparently aimed at content creators and streamers, who could show their reactions and record gameplay simultaneously.

To keep players from clashing with their surroundings, PS VR2 will give them the option to set up a custom play area. Using the built-in cameras, the headset will scan the room while the PS VR2 Sense controllers will allow players to further adjust the play area. Players will then receive a warning if they start to approach set limits.

Sony has also shared details regarding PS VR2’s VR Mode and Cinematic Mode. In VR mode, content will be displayed in HDR video format with a resolution of 4000 x 2040 pixels (2000 x 2040 pixels per eye) and a refresh rate of 90Hz/120Hz. will be able to view non-VR content in cinematic mode. This mode will display media content on a virtual cinema screen in HDR video format with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and a refresh rate of 24Hz/60Hz/120Hz.

Game developers will have access to these new PS VR2 features through an upcoming system software update.
