Sony could be bringing a new PlayStation 5 model to market as early as April 2023. A new report suggests that instead of launching the rumored Slim model, Sony may be planning to unveil the PlayStation 5 Pro. It’s been nearly two and a half years since the base PlayStation 5 launched in 2020. Now, that Pro model would come with a new, more powerful AMD chip. The PS5 Pro can also benefit from a liquid cooling system for better heat dissipation.

PhonAndroid reportedly got information from a reliable source which claims that the PS5 Pro could be launched in April 2023. Being a Pro variant, it is expected to feature a new AMD chip. Additionally, this model may sport a liquid cooling system similar to those typically found on gaming PCs.

The PlayStation 5 contains a liquid metal compound, combined with a cooling fan. The new liquid cooling system is likely to offer better heat dissipation than the current base model. Sony might also be forced to change the design to incorporate liquid cooling. However, there is no concrete evidence on this at this point.

The report mentions that Sony might sell off its stock PS5 before the PS5 Pro arrives. This new model is also expected to be significantly more expensive than the base version. Additionally, the PS5 Pro may not be produced in sufficient numbers due to the current shortage of equipment.

Sony has yet to confirm the existence of a PS5 Pro or even a slim version at this point. Whichever model hits the market, the company is more likely to unveil the new model at a State of Play event. However, the Japanese firm has not yet planned to organize such an event. Therefore, we should take this information with a grain of salt for now.
