Photos and video footage of Paris Saint-Germain pair Lionel Messi and Neymar back in Barcelona have turned plenty of heads online this evening.

PSG switch

The name of Argentine superstar Messi has of course taken centre stage in the media over the last couple of weeks.

This comes with the 34-year-old having been forced to close the legendary Barcelona chapter of his career, to instead seek out a new club.

Just hours after it was suggested that Messi was on the verge of putting pen to paper on a new deal at the Camp Nou, the Blaugrana released a statement, confirming the departure of their greatest ever player:

Widespread chatter immediately followed in the media, amid mass speculation surrounding where Messi, a free agent for the first time in his career, was set to end up next.

When all was said and done, though, despite the likes of Manchester City, Chelsea and Manchester United all being tipped as potential landing spots, it came as little surprise when the 6-time Ballon d’Or winner opted to take his talents to France, with Paris Saint-Germain:

Despite his Parc des Princes switch having been made official almost two weeks ago now, Messi is yet to make his competitive bow for PSG.

This comes as the Argentine ramps up his efforts to regain full fitness, on the back of his efforts in guiding the Albiceleste to Copa America glory this summer.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men are actually in action tonight, in a Ligue 1 meeting with Brest.

Messi, however, will not be in attendance, with the veteran attacker having instead opted to fly back to Barcelona.

Expectant fans of the Blaugrana need not get their hopes up too much, with Messi simply visiting for the weekend, to make use of his home in Castelldefels.

PSG teammate and close friend Neymar, also formerly of Barca, has too made his way to Catalunya, to spend time with Messi and his family:
