The jerseys set to be donned by Paris Saint-Germain’s players in the club’s meeting with Monaco on Sunday will feature a special gesture to star man Lionel Messi.

Argentine icon Messi has, as has proven the case throughout his career, seen his name take its place front and centre in the headlines over the course of the last couple of weeks.

This comes after the 34-year-old, regarded by many as the greatest to ever lace up a pair of boots, secured the latest addition to his burgeoning trophy cabinet.

The prize in question? The Ballon d’Or.

On the back of a hotly-contested race between he and Bayern Munich hitman Robert Lewandowski, Messi ultimately emerged triumphant, taking home a record 7th ‘Golden Ball’ from last week’s ceremony in Paris:

And, as alluded to above, despite almost two weeks having now passed since Messi added just the latest accolade to his collection, those in a position of power at his current club are evidently not ready to allow the significance of the veteran’s achievement to fade into the background just yet.

As confirmed across the club’s social media platforms a short time ago, PSG’s stars are set to don special edition jerseys in their Ligue 1 meeting with Monaco tonight.

The shirts in question will feature gold letters and numbers alike, in a tribute to Messi’s 7th Golden Ball:
