Pogba debating transfer U-turn

As Paul Pogba is in the final year of his contract and little news has been forthcoming over a new deal, many likely assumed that Pogba would be leaving Manchester United upon the expiry of his current deal in the summer of 2022.

However, as per a report from The Athletic, this is proving less and less likely at present, with Pogba impressed by the additions that the club have made this summer.

The Red Devils added class in three positions this summer, including good friend to Pogba Raphael Varane and the World Class Cristiano Ronaldo, and it is thought to be having an impact on his thinking for the future.

As per David Ornstein:

“Recent events are believed to have had a profound effect on Pogba and there is now a feeling that opting to stay with the 20-time English champions is becoming a realistic possibility”

Perhaps the most important was Ronaldo’s homecoming, which is thought to have a “strong chance it contributes to him putting pen to paper at United”.

This would provide a huge boost to the Red Devils, who are facing the alternative prospect of him walking away for free after joining the club for 90 million pounds in 2016.

Pogba’s fine form

Pogba has certainly not started the season in the mood of a man wanting out, arguably stringing together his best performances in a United shirt to date.

Four assists vs Leeds United were backed up by a further two against Newcastle, taking his tally for the season to an astonishing seven already, while he appears to be relishing the quality that has been placed around him.

If he can keep it up across the entire campaign, he could well break Thierry Henry’s assist record (20) and help his team lift some much-needed silverware in the process.

Would that finally convince him to stay?
