Dembélé commits future to Barcelona

Barcelona boss Xavi will go into the Christmas period pleased by the gift that is Ousmane Dembélé after the French international intends to stay in Catalunya and remain a part of the new project under the iconic Blaugrana former midfielder.

Spanish outlet AS reported that the French winger intends to sign a five-year extension at the Camp Nou with the club set to formally announce the details next week.

The news ends the projected saga surrounding the former Borussia Dortmund and Stade Rennais standout after many felt he could eventually find himself plying his trade elsewhere other than the La Liga giants.

But that notion did not sit well with Xavi however, who was already adamant that Dembélé would receive first-choice minutes in the Barcelona forward line once he was available for selection.

Still just 24-years-old and supremely talented on his day, Xavi now has one key piece to the long-term attacking picture at Barça.

Ferran Torres to return to Spain in Barça switch

If Ousmane Dembélé is one piece of the puzzle, then the impending capture of Manchester City’s Spanish international forward Ferran Torres will surely be viewed as the other.

Following Ferran Torres news, Barcelona handed another massive personnel boost

As reported yesterday, Torres is on the verge of securing a £50million that will see him become the first major transfer signing of the new Xavi regime at Barcelona after the Barça legend intended from the outset to add quality in wide areas at the Camp Nou.

With Dembélé and Torres secured, the likes of Memphis Depay and younger Ansu Fati comprise an incredibly gifted quarter of options on the flank for Xavi who still has to tackle the question of the center-forward role at the club.

Though Depay has proven he can operate in the number 9 role as part of a striking tandem at international level, it remains to be seen how effective he can be in the long term in the role in a 4-3-3 deployment that Barcelona are sure to rely on or if Torres will actually be utilized through the middle instead.
