Oscars 2023: air date, nominations and how to watch

When awards season rolls around, they’re no more important than the Oscars, which are the de facto gold standard for the best Hollywood movies.

The 95th Academy Awards will take place this spring, and Everything Everywhere All At Once is up for the most awards with a total of 11 nominations. Here’s when the Oscars air and how to watch them from the US and UK.

When are the 2023 Oscars?

The 2023 Oscars are currently scheduled to be held at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood on Sunday March 12, 2023, with exact times to be revealed.

It will be broadcast on television and around the world. 2023 marks 95 years since the awards show – you can watch a tribute video to the show below, featuring many famous faces:

What channel is the Oscars broadcast on?

If you’re in the US, the Oscars will air on ABC.

In the UK, no plans have yet been confirmed. However, in previous years, the Sky Cinema Oscars sub-channel (channel 302) aired the ceremony, as well as red carpet coverage.

This is then usually followed by a highlight reel on Sky Max the following evening. We will confirm UK release plans later.

How to watch the Oscars online

US viewers who won’t be near a TV have an easy option: head to the ABC website to stream the entire show live, or watch it through the ABC app. Hulu Live TV and YouTube TV will also air the show.

UK viewers will likely be able to watch the show through Sky’s Now Cinema Membership, which costs £9.99 per month. Again, we’ll confirm if that’s still the case closer to the time.

Who is hosting the 2023 Oscars?

Jimmy Kimmel will be back to host the ceremony for the third time. He previously hosted in 2017 and 2018.

Who are the 2023 Oscar nominees?

There are 23 categories for the Oscars this year. Everything, Everywhere, All At Once leads the pack, with the film winning a total of 11 awards. It is closely followed by All Quiet on the Western Front and The Banshees of Inisherin, who are both up for nine awards each.

Additionally, Angela Bassett is making Marvel history by being the first actor to be nominated for an Oscar in an MCU film. It’s for her portrayal of Queen Ramonda in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
