Oppo Flip Foldable Release Date, Price and Specs Rumors

Oppo already has a foldable device on the market, with its Find N being one of the most notable foldables from last year, but it’s unfortunately exclusive to the Chinese market.

Now, rumors suggest the company could be working on a clamshell design that would not only bring a flip-style device to the catalog, but also cost more affordably than its pricey stablemate – and it could even launch internationally.

We still don’t know what the phone will be called, though leakers including Digital Chat Station are calling it the Find N2 Flip, a name that also appeared in a leaked image that’s allegedly official.

Here’s everything we know so far about the Oppo Find N2 Flip.

When will the Oppo Find N2 Flip be released?

There is no official word on the release of Oppo’s new clamshell device, but Oppo has confirmed the date for Inno Day, the annual event where we expect to see the phone revealed. He will start the December 14 with a virtual event at 8am GMT / 3am ET / 12pm PT.

Inno Day 2021 is when Oppo revealed the original Find N, so we’d expect it to announce the Find N2 – and of course its sibling Flip.

One caveat is that, despite its name, Inno Day is not actually a day. Last year, the Find N debuted on the second day, so if the pattern holds, we could see the Find N2 and N2 Flip revealed on December 15the day after Inno Day starts – that’s exactly what at least one leaker is predicting.

We don’t know if this time around the phone will launch outside of China, but there is hope. Earlier this year, Billy Zhang, vice president of overseas sales at Oppo, told Tech Advisor that flip and foldable phones are the future and that Europe will “probably” get the next generation of phones. foldables from Oppo.

How much will the Oppo flip phone cost?

As with the release date, Oppo has yet to confirm details on the pricing (or even the existence) of its next flip phone.

As for the rumors once again, we’ve seen multiple reports (probably all generated by the initial Digital Chat Station post) that the new device could be in the range of $1000/£800. This would make it a competitive prospect against other current flip phones, such as the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4, Motorola Razr 2022 and Huawei P50 Pocket, which are priced as follows:

• Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4: From $999/£999/€1,099
• Motorola Razr 2022: from £949/€1,199 (around $1,150)
• Huawei P50 Pocket: from €1,299 (around $1,389/£1,100)

What are the specifications and design of the Find N2 Flip?

Oppo may not have revealed anything official about the Find N2 Flip, but thanks to the leaks, we think we know what to expect.

First, the possible design was revealed in what is apparently an official Oppo render shared by leaker Abhishek Yadav on Twitterincluding the apparent confirmation of the Find N2 Flip name:

We can see a design that looks a bit like Samsung’s Z Flip 4, but with a pair of large camera cutouts and a larger cover screen, flipped sideways in a portrait orientation.

If you’re skeptical of the image, it’s a perfect match for a purported hands-on video showcasing an early sample of the phone. The phone here is only seen briefly, and in a sturdy protective case that hides much of the design, but the two large lenses and vertical cover screen are clearly visible when the phone is closed.

So that’s what we know about the design, but what about the specs? Rumors are circulating that the chipset will be the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, instead of the more powerful 8 Gen 2 that was recently announced.

The generally reliable Digital Chat Station reported a few more specific specs. First, it says the phone will have two OLED screens: an internal 6.8-inch panel with 2520×1080 resolution and a 3.26-inch panel on the outside. This latest spec is interesting, as it’s larger than the exterior screens on other flip folds, suggesting a display that will cover one side of the phone when closed.

It also makes a battery prediction, suggesting the phone will use a 4,300mAh cell – again, larger than what we’ve typically seen in other foldables using this form factor.

Finally, the camera specs also make an appearance. Apparently, we can expect a 32Mp selfie camera with a Sony IMX709 sensor, along with a 50Mp main camera with a Sony IMX766 and an 8Mp ultrawide using the Sony IMX355.

Samsung is currently top dog in the flip smartphone stakes, with the Galaxy Z Flip 4 among our favorite phones of any type, not just foldables. So the Oppo Find N2 Flip (if that’s what it’s called) will definitely have its work cut out if it wants to take the top spot. Hopefully we’ll find out what it has to offer soon.
