One-Punch Man: Justin Lin Says He’ll Direct Live-Action Movie Adaptation For Sony Pictures

Justin Lin is set to direct the live-action feature film adaptation of the popular manga series One-punch man for Sony Pictures, from a script by Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner, according to a report. The veteran Fast & Furious director will also assist the writers with rewrites. THE One-punch man The film is expected to begin production by the end of the year, but does not yet have a release date. One-punch man will be produced by Avi Arad and Ari Arad of Arad Productions, and Lin himself.

Deadline brings Lin’s word to the bar of the One-punch man live action movie. The report further states that Sony Pictures believes this could mark the start of a One-punch man franchise. However, no details are available on the One-punch man cast or expected script.

For Lin, the One-punch man The film comes just two months after its release of Fast X, the 10th installment in the Fast & Furious franchise. This was reportedly the result of “creative differences” between him and Universal Studios. Lin, however, is still associated with the film – currently directed by Louis Leterrier – as a producer.

Lin previously directed The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift (2006), Fast & Furious (2009), Fast Five), Fast & Furious 6 (2013), and F9 (2021).

For Rosenberg and Pinkner, Lin’s One-punch man The feature film adaptation will be the first major project after 2019’s fantasy adventure comedy Jumanji: The Next Level. They have already written films such as its predecessor Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and the Superhero Movie Venom.

Originally created as a webtoon by Japanese artist ONE, One-punch man gained immense popularity after being released on Shueisha’s Tonari no Young Jump Next, selling 30 million copies worldwide. It was adapted into an anime series of the same name, which added to its popularity. It revolves around Saitama, a superhero who can defeat his enemies with – no guesswork – a single punch. It’ll be worth watching if Lin’s feature film adaptation does the manga’s legacy justice.
