One attacker in, one out: Barcelona squad latest before Alaves

An update on the status of a pair of Barcelona stars for the club’s meeting with Alaves on Saturday has been forthcoming online this evening.

Camp Nou clash

A new era will of course be kickstarted in the Catalan capital in a little over 24 hours’ time.

After Ronald Koeman was dismissed owing to yet another damaging defeat in midweek, the Blaugrana will get life post-Dutchman underway in a La Liga meeting with the aforementioned Alaves at the Camp Nou.

Barca, expected to be taken over by club legend Xavi Hernandez in short order, will no doubt be desperate for all three points, having slipped to the depths of mid-table in the Spanish top-flight on the back of successive defeats at the hands of Real Madrid and Rayo Vallecano.

Struggling Alaves, though, represent the ideal opponent to take advantage of, with the Basque outfit hovering just a point clear of the relegation zone, owing to seven defeats from their opening ten outings of the campaign.

Dembele return?

And, as outlined above, ahead of Saturday’s Catalunya clash, this evening, an insight into the options likely to be at the disposal of interim Barcelona boss Sergi Barjuan has been provided.

The Blaugrana have of course been forced to deal with a whole host of personnel problems of late. The likes of Pedri, Martin Braithwaite, Ousmane Dembele and Ronald Araujo have all spell time on the Camp Nou treatment table.

Both Frenkie de Jong and Sergi Roberto, meanwhile, look certain to miss out on tomorrow evening’s action.

And joining such key performers on the absentee list for this weekend, according to the reliable Samuel Marsden of ESPN, will likely be explosive youngster Ansu Fati.

Spanish international Ansu played no part in midweek against Rayo, owing to a knee issue picked up during El Clasico.

In more positive news for the Barcelona faithful, however, it is also suggested that Ousmane Dembele, yet to feature to this point in the season, ‘could be in the squad’, having returned to full training this week:
