Enterprise cloud spending is holding up well, but large enterprises are considering consolidating their vendors. This makes cloud marketplaces an increasingly relevant sales channel for B2B startups. — Anne

Beyond the good news: headwinds for young start-ups

Battery Ventures’ State of Cloud Software Spending report contained good news for startups looking to sell software to enterprise customers. Contrary to gloomy claims, “reports of the death of corporate technology spending have been greatly exaggerated,” the venture capital firm said.

Our own Alex Wilhelm reflected on these findings for The Exchange earlier this week and confirmed the good news: the sky is not falling for cloud software spending. However, startups face headwinds as money no longer flows as freely as it once did.
