Everton confirm starlet signing
It has been a good week for Everton.
Following their 2-1 win over Arsenal, they have been boosted by further good news, this time on the contract front.
Promising young defend Jarrad Branthwaite has extended his time on Merseyside for a further 3 and a half years, after making his Premier League debut in July 2020.

He has been a regular in the first team squad this season, but has only made one EFL cup appearance so far this campaign. However, he is here to stay.
What was said?
Speaking to EvertonTV, Branthwaite revealed the reasons behind his decision to sign a new contract, and what he hopes to achieve in his longer stint at Goodison Park. The youngster claimed:
“It feels like Everton have full belief in me so I have to show them what I can do,”
“I am buzzing to get the deal done and commit my future to the Club. The way Everton have treated me and the pathway I can see are why I was eager to stay longer.
“The games I’ve had show there is a place for me in the side.
“Playing for Everton’s First Team is a massive honour. I want more so I have to prove I am good enough to be there and keep progressing.
“My main objective is to play as many games as possible and help the team.
He was also quick to point to Rafa Benitez’s influence on him when it came to signing the new deal, saying:
“The manager is very good with me.
“Every day, he is talking to me, helping me with what I need to develop, doing little things after training.
“We are working on my right foot and my passing and the agility side, moving my feet quicker, so I can defend better in one-on-one situations.
“He has been brilliant.”
For those on Merseyside not happy with Benitez, this is at least a point in his favour.
Will Branthwaite make it at Goodison Park?
