Nuno on Tanguy Ndombele’s availability for Tottenham vs Watford
Tottenham Hotspur boss Nuno Espirito Santo has, on Friday, provided a fresh insight into Tanguy Ndombele’s situation at the club.
Ndombele wants out
Recent weeks have of course seen murmurs begin to mount surrounding the future of Tottenham midfielder Ndombele.
The 24-year-old, despite having had no international commitments this summer, and seemingly being fully fit, has played no part whatsoever under new boss Nuno Espirito Santo to date.
Ndombele was not involved in any one of Spurs’ pre-season outings, before being forced to watch on from afar as the Lilywhites got their 2021/22 campaign underway.
In turn, it came as little surprise when an explanation for the Frenchman’s absence was forthcoming this day last week.
As per the reliable Jack Pitt-Brooke of The Athletic, Ndombele has set his sights firmly on a move away from North London ahead of the transfer window slamming shut next week:
Tanguy Ndombele has asked to leave Tottenham this window. That’s why Nuno hasn’t been picking him so far this season.

‘Not an option’
Speaking in a press conference ahead of Spurs’ meeting with Watford this weekend, Nuno was therefore inevitably drawn on the latest on the situation of his wantaway midfield star.
And the Portuguese tactician first went on to confirm that he remains in daily contact with Ndombele, with the 24-year-old very much ‘with us’.
However, from here, Nuno added that ‘nothing has changed’, with Ndombele ‘not an option’ to participate against Watford in 48 hours’ time:
Nuno on whether Tanguy Ndombele’s situation has changed: “No, we speak yesterday and we speak the day before, Tanguy is with us. He’s not been an option. Nothing has changed really.” https://t.co/Dg6lxNF37f
