Espírito Santo gives update on Alli & Winks” target=”_blank” rel=”noopener noreferrer”>Tottenham

boss Nuno Espírito Santo has given a status update on Spurs’ central pair Dele Alli and Harry Winks after the midfield duo have been linked with newly purchased Newcastle.

With the Magpies likely to splash some serious cash as they look to get the ball rolling in their project under new consortium ownership led by the Public Investment Fund, Tottenham’s headmaster has attempted to calm the waters around the futures of the central pair.

“They are our players, they are here with us. There’s nothing to be worried about. It’s a situation that we have to work on, we have to improve all the players. This is a squad. Making decisions, taking advantage of the moment, the talent, what we want for the game. All the players we count on.”

Despite his willingness to work with all players under his command at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Espírito Santo did not make it clear whether or not Alli and Winks would be involved at the weekend in a key clash against Manchester United in the English capital. Perhaps this unwillingness speaks loudly about what the actual situation around the pair truly is.

Tottenham pair to find time elsewhere?

While time may be limited for Dele Alli and Harry Winks at Tottenham, the situation around the England pair could certainly change their fortunes if they look for greener pastures elsewhere.

Newcastle’s need to improve the squad rapidly at St. James’ Park could help the pair get their respective careers back on firm footing.

Though they are not the big-name signings that many Geordies will be hoping for, they could at least be viewed as upgrades on the current squad options on Tyneside.

Both players are England internationals and still just 25-years-old, and could certainly go a long way in adding some semblance of creativity to a Newcastle outfit that lack those qualities in a consistent manner.
