Nothing Phone (1) gets Android 13 second beta

About a month ago, the Nothing Phone (1) received its first Android 13-based Nothing OS 1.5 beta. Today, the company is shipping the second Android 13 beta to Nothing Phone (1) units. ) registered in the Beta Tests. It’s apparently four days ahead of schedule, according to Nothing CEO Carl Pei.

The new version includes new minimalist wallpapers, customizable lock screen shortcut buttons, new “crafted glyph ringtone and slightly different style notification sound pack”, quick settings panel improved for networking which enables quick switching of data usage when using two SIM cards, smoother animations when turning the screen on or off, improved auto-brightness algorithm , improved UI and animations for the Camera app, and improved battery life.

System stability should also have increased and bugs have been largely fixed, although not individually described. The full Nothing X application is now integrated into the operating system, and finally the contextual view is back with “some interaction improvements”.

The new version is coming live as a 127MB download. It’s unclear when the final, stable version of Nothing OS 1.5 will roll out to all devices. Since so far the beta update cadence has been one per month, if there is to be another beta, expect it to drop around mid- february. Nothing really seems to take its time here.
