‘Not rocket science’: Ralf Rangnick makes interesting Manchester United claim ahead of Liverpool

Ralf Rangnick has made an interesting claim regarding Manchester United and Liverpool ahead of the side’s meeting.

Manchester United face off with Liverpool at Anfield on Tuesday evening.

The game is a must-win for both sides, with Liverpool looking to overtake Manchester City atop of the Premier League and Manchester United looking to gain some ground on 4th-place Tottenham.

However, in truth, United are serious underdogs for this clash with Liverpool now a class above their bitter rivals.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are still on course to clinch a quadruple, whilst Man United are not even guaranteed a spot in next season’s Champions League.

Ralf Rangnick on Liverpool

Throughout the years Manchester United and Liverpool have had one of the fiercest rivalries in England and, for much of the Premier League era, it was Manchester United who dominated it.

However, following Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement and Jurgen Klopp’s arrival, it is Liverpool who are now on top of the mountain.

And, despite Man United’s struggles post-Ferguson, Ralf Rangnick is of the opinion that ‘it is not rocket science’ to close the gap on Liverpool:

“I don’t think that a club like Manchester United can afford to take three or four years in order to achieve that, and I don’t think it is necessary,” Rangnick said.

“We spoke about Liverpool earlier on, how long it took for them. After two or three transfer windows if you know what you’re looking for. If you don’t know what you’re looking for, you’ll always looking for the needle in the haystack.

“It’s not that complicated, it’s not rocket science, but in order to have your best possible wind, you need to know where your destination haven is. If you don’t know that, it’s always difficult.”
