‘Not ready’: Liverpool supporters express concern over summer arrival following Brighton draw

Liverpool’s supporters have flooded to social media on Saturday evening, to reveal their concerns with one particular member of the club’s backline.

Seagulls fight back

Jurgen Klopp’s men made their return to Premier League action a short time ago.

After booking their spot in the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup courtesy of a 2-0 win over Preston in midweek, the Reds welcomed Brighton & Hove Albion to Anfield, aiming to keep pace with table-topping Chelsea.

Upon the final whistle sounding on Saturday, however, Liverpool, ultimately, were forced to settle for a share of the spoils.

When Sadio Mane added to Jordan Henderson’s early opener inside twenty five minutes, it looked all but guaranteed that yet another comfortable afternoon’s work was on the cards for the hosts:

Brighton, however, had other ideas, launching a remarkable comeback, first courtesy of Enock Mwepu, and then, shortly after the hour mark, the heavily involved Leandro Trossard.

And this is how things remained through to the final whistle, in a potentially damaging pair of points dropped for Klopp’s Liverpool.

Konate targeted

In turn, on the back of the action coming to a close at Anfield, it should come as little surprise to hear of the Reds faithful showing little mercy in taking aim at the under-performing members of their side’s squad.

The likes of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Roberto Firmino and Curtis Jones looked some way below their best over the course of the 90 minutes versus Brighton.

It is another member of Klopp’s ranks, however, who has been singled out for, by some distance, the most widespread criticism.

Taking to social media in their numbers, Liverpool’s supporters have highlighted the performance of summer arrival Ibrahima Konate as a cause for concern, amid suggestions that the Frenchman is simply ‘not ready’ for a weekly starting berth at Premier League level:
