Neville’s controversial lineup
Gary Neville hosted a QandA on Twitter this lunchtime, taking questions from his followers. However, what stood out to readers was one particular answer, where he was asked who his chosen starting XI would be for the Red Devils if everyone was fit.

Neville opted to partner Scott McTominay with Paul Pogba in central midfield, while Mason Greenwood and Cristiano Ronaldo were stationed either side of Edinson Cavani.
Fans react to Neville’s decisions
Jamie Carragher was quick to react to Neville’s side, pointing to a discussion that they had on Monday Night Football about Pogba playing on the left wing.
He also noted the omission of Jadon Sancho, who joined the club just this summer to play on the right wing.
So is Pogba not a left winger anymore @GNev2 🤦♂️ The right winger you said the club were desperate for doesn’t play 🤨 & you’ve got Ronaldo wide 🤷♂️ Ossie Ardiles wouldn’t pick that team 😂😂 https://t.co/97rPj67lM7

Carragher was joined by other twitter users in trolling his Sky Sports Colleague, who mostly had the same concerns as the former Liverpool defender.

It’s quite interesting to see a pundit so knowledgeable about the game, yet pick such a shocking line-up? No 80m Sancho, 36y/o Ronaldo LW?
No wonder Valencia didn’t work out for him.

So you’d move Ronaldo to the wings to accomodate for Cavani whilst you leave Rashford & Sancho the bench with 0 actual wingers in the team…

It’s not 2008, Gary. Ronaldo doesn’t play on the left anymore.

Thank God you’re not managing our club!
Ronaldo on the left? Have you watched him in recent years.
No creators in the front three.
Most of the Midfield and Forwards are direct and do not compliment each other.#MUFC

Clearly then, United’s best XI continues to divide opinion, a tale of the wealth of options available to the Red Devils.
