An altogether disturbing story has emerged from ligue 2 football this morning, surrounding a player from Nimes.
According to French outlet RMC Sport, a Nimes player was taken into police custody on Monday afternoon due to allegedly engaging in prostitution of minors.

As per the report:
According to information from corroborating sources from BFMTV, the player went to the police station this weekend to indicate that his car had been stolen by several people, young women.Â
At the same time, a young girl (minor) went to a dealership to try to sell the stolen car. But the individuals she introduced herself to kept the vehicle before threatening her. The latter, frightened, then went to the police station to denounce the facts.
She then explained the situation to the police and claimed to have had sex for a fee with the owner of the car (the football player therefore). She told them that she was in the company of another minor and a major.
Are footballers getting less protection, or more outrageous?
This revelation follows several high profile issues in the Premier League, where an Everton player was suspended for alleged child sex offences, and a Brighton player was arrested during the international break for alleged sexual assault in a nightclub.
In addition, of course, former Manchester City defender Benjamin Mendy currently sits in prison awaiting trial for four counts of rape and sexual assault, for which he was arrested in August.
