The menace involving taxi’s has been so worrisome as lives are being lost in the violence.
The transport MEC Bonginkosi Madikizela said he would continue to fight till taxi violence in the Western Cape comes to an end.
Over 60 taxi-related murders have been recorded by the provincial transport department triggered by operating licences and routes.
Taxi operators, drivers and passengers were among those killed.
For some months now, Madikizela has been visiting communities that have been hit by high levels of taxi-related violence.
He visited taxi ranks in Ceres and Paarl – other affected areas include Bellville, Hout Bay, Masiphumelele and Delft on Wednesday.
The visits were to create awareness about the importance of transport in the economy and to encourage people to participate in the provincial taxi lekgotla which will hold next week.
He also engaged with the taxi industry leaders.
Madikizela however warned that if the violence continues, he would not hesitate to close ranks or routes.
