UIF Ters payments resume on Monday
The payment of the government’s relief scheme for workers is expected to resume on Monday.
UIF Ters payment was halted for two weeks.
The Temporary Employer/Employee Relief Scheme (Ters) was suspended after the auditor-general’s report revealed alleged fraud and irregularities in the system.
It was halted on September 7.
However, it has decided to resume to its disbursement duty tomorrow.
The Unemployment Insurance Fund, which funds the scheme, said only “competent claims” will be disbursed.
Incomplete claims or claims where information indicates outstanding from employers will not be automatically processed.
The fund also disclosed that multiple payments have been scheduled to run for the rest of next week to fast track payments to beneficiaries.
Acting UIF commissioner, Marsha Bronkhorst said “we plan a payment run for all outstanding payments for April, May and June 2020 on Monday and Tuesday.”
“After that, we will plan to run payments for the July 1 to August 15 period from Wednesday 23 to Saturday September 26.”
