Tshegofatso Pule trial: Case postponed after agreement with the defence
The court has postponed the case tendered against the man accused of murdering Tshegofatso Pule on Tuesday to October 20 for a pretrial hearing.
Muzikayise Malephane came before the high court in Johannesburg. Apparently, the state and defence told the court that they’ve made an agreement to postpone the case because the state needed to get more evidence with additional documentation.
Malephane was seen wearing clad in a grey hoodie and black buff on his face with calmness.
However, his defence counsel was unhappy with the presence of media in the court and said a fair trial is needed for her client.
“The presence of the media here is intimidating and we also can’t consult with our client in privacy. Cameras are all over us,” the counsel told the court.
The prosecutor also disagreed to filming of the proceedings and suggested proceedings should not be recorded for the safety of his family.
However, Judge Ratha Mokgoatlheng said there wasn’t public interest in the case and told the media to avoid filming the prosecutor and defence counsel.
