Patel commends EFF’s direct action in Clicks catastrophe
Activist Zulaikha Patel said she’s on the same side with EFF’s direct approach towards the Clicks advert debacle.
Patel said Clicks are to be held responsible for the whole debacle.
“The action the EFF has taken, that’s immediate action, and they’re responding to the violence that Clicks has perpetuated because racism is violence and this was deeper than a hair issue, this was blatant racism.”
“This goes back to the fact that we have to decolonise the corporate space in this country,” she said.
The Clicks hair advert that was uploaded on their website has stirred anger, hurt, and disbelief among many South Africans.
Patel’s name has become grounded and known for fighting against discriminatory hair policies.
Back in 2016, she became part of a group of learners who fought against Pretoria Girls High School’s policy pertaining to black girls’ hair.
