Newcastle United news- Newcastle target Tottenham past and present pair as new competition emerges for defender

Newcastle Transfer news

In this article we will bring you all of today’s Newcastle United transfer news.

Be sure to check back to 101 for regular updates in the run up to, and throughout, the January transfer window.

Magpies in pole position for Kieran Trippier

Firstly, Newcastle are allegedly becoming increasingly confident of making 31 year old Kieran Trippier one of their additions in January. The current Atletico Madrid man is out with a shoulder injury until Jnauary, but was heavily linked with a move back to England in the summer, and was reportedly keen, with Manchester United interested.

Now, however, it could be Newcastle United’s turn.

According to Football Insider:

“Newcastle are optimistic of getting a deal done as Trippier is keen to return to the UK and he is not fazed by the impending relegation fight.

He has told friends he is keen to get the deal done early in the January window.”

Would he be a good addition moving forward for the Magpies, or should they be looking for a younger profile as they look to stay in the top flight?

Dele Alli on the move?

From a past Spurs player to a present one, could there be a move to Tyneside on the cards for Dele Alli.

The Athletic revealed that the Tottenham man was free to depart the club in January, as he struggles to nail down a first team place under yet another manager, and has now been made available.

And now, as per teamtalk, Newcastle United have emerged as a viable destination for the 25 year old, with a potential loan with an option to buy (should they remain in the top flight) thought to be on the cards.

It could be a move that suits both parties, and allows Dele Alli to try and re-find his form and resurrect his Tottenham career.

Chelsea enter the race for Niklas Sule

Newcastle have been linked with a move for soon-to-be out of contract Niklas Sule, potentially making him their first marquee signing under new ownership, and he would certainly improve them no end.

However, a new party have emerged, in the form of Chelsea, set to compete for his signature.

The Blues are set to lose Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen on free transfers come the end of the season, and are reportedly looking at the Bayern Munich man to replace one of them, report Football.London.

Would Chelsea represent a better option for the German, and would the blues be able to match the financial offer from the magpies?
