Newcastle see second bid for Brighton’s Dan Burn turned down

Newcastle United have had a second bid for Brighton centre-back Dan Burn turned down on Saturday, according to reports.

Dan Burn has been on the Seagulls’ books since 2019, when he joined from Wigan.

He has since featured on 85 occasions for the club, and continues to be a key part of Graham Potter’s backline, even being named captain for a Premier League outing earlier this term.

So, it was not too surprising to see BBC’s Simon Stone report earlier this week that Brighton turned down the £7m bid for Burn, which is way off what the south coast outfit value the 29-year-old at:

Now, on Saturday, Newcastle look to have gone in for Burn with a second bid.

That bid, as per The Athletic, was believed to have been around £10m before add-ons. However, Brighton are also thought to have rejected that offer from the Magpies.

It is added that Burn is a boyhood Newcastle fan and is thought to be receptive to returning home. But Brighton have not received an offer they deem acceptable for a regular starter.

Elsewhere it is speculated that it would take around £15m to prise the defender away from Graham Potter and co.
