Netflix’s Gray Man Makes a Decentraland Splash: Everything You Need to Know
Netflix has entered the popular Decentraland metaverse in a bid to give a Web3 twist to the promotion of its recent big-budget flick, The Gray Man. To expose fans to an immersive experience, Netflix has recreated a movie-inspired landscape that can be navigated using knowledge of the story. The experience includes an instructional video from Hollywood actor Ryan Gosling, who played the protagonist in this film that brought the Russo Brothers, makers of Avengers: Endgame and Avengers: Infinity War, back to the cinema. stock.
Visitors to Netflix’s “Metaverse Mission” will encounter a maze set to dramatic music from The Gray Man.
Recreating movie backgrounds in the Metaverse is an experiment Netflix is watching to see its impact on The Gray Man viewership.
“It not only attracts those who have already seen the film, but also ‘excites users who are in Decentraland playing the maze and leads them to watch the film,’” a Blockworks report quoted Martin Shibuya, the art director of Decentraland Foundation as said in a press release.
More than 2,000 people have reportedly entered the maze since it launched early last week.
Users must reach the fountain in the center of the maze to unlock a secret room and complete the mission.
They are required to connect their crypto wallets to Decentraland to record how long it took them to complete their journey through the maze.
After completing the maze, users can choose from available rewards, including free wearable items for their avatars, as well as iconic character looks from The Gray Man.

Although Netflix has yet to announce any full-fledged metaverse plans, the streaming giant has hinted at its interest in the sector.
According to NASDAQ, Netflix has acquired small-scale video developers like Night School Studio.
Last year, the brand brought on former Meta Platforms (FB) Oculus executive Mike Verdu as vice president of game development.
