Netflix’s Class Pits Poor Scholarship Students Against Elite In Exclusive High School: Trailer And Release Date Announced

Class, a Hindi-language adaptation of the Spanish series Elite, has just received a trailer and a release date. Netflix has confirmed that the young adult drama, which raises questions about class differences and wealth, will hit the platform on February 3. Much like the original, the Ashim Ahluwalia (Dad)-directed adaptation pits three working-class kids against powerful elites. of a prestigious international school, with the ensuing drama exposing the darker underbelly of the wealthy. Currently, there is no word on the episode count for Class.

The Class trailer opens with a voiceover, presumably from local cops, as we are treated to blurry footage of the police inspecting what appears to be a corpse. “Has anything like this happened at Hampton before?” the voice said, suspecting the three new kids who recently joined the elite school on a scholarship – Dheeraj (Piyush Khati), Balli (Cwaayal Singh) and Saba (Madhyama Segal). The Class trailer then goes back in time to show the glamorous school – a school adorned with state-of-the-art facilities and regular parties, which is not common for these new students who come from the grittier side of Delhi. . Dheeraj describes the school as “the best and the most expensive”, littered with “spoiled children from strange families”.

“You’ll be in trouble here. Be careful here, okay?”, Suhani (Anjali Siwaraman), who has taken a liking to the new students, confidently warns Dheeraj. Throughout the Class trailer, our heroes are depicted as targets of intimidation, whether for their lack of knowledge of English, the way they act or simply to exist among the elites. “Why do you have to give alms to every beggar”, asks a comrade class to Suhani, after telling Dheeraj to go somewhere else and not talk to her, we are then introduced to Balram Patwal aka Balli, an avid bodybuilder, who has no shame in taking off his shirt to wow the girls of the “I’m from a Hindi background, but my English is like Bullet Train,” he says, as the trailer makes it look like he ends up on the school’s modeling team. Naturally, the other children get jealous.

The Class trailer then veers to a darker side, bringing in rowdy Neeraj (Gurfateh Pirzada), Dheeraj’s friend, who tries to encourage him to rob the rich. “Black money is earned illegally. We should loot them, anyway,” he tells a reluctant Dheeraj, who is eventually tied to the plan. Unfortunately, things go awry and the three new students end up becoming prime suspects in a murder, with no one to believe in their innocence, simply because they are from a lower class background. “I wish there was someone who could beat them at their own game and show them that we exist too,” Dheeraj says in a voiceover. “We are in the same class.

Earlier this month, Netflix also revealed the cast of Class, which includes Ayesha Kanga as Yashika, Chayan Chopra as Dhruv, Chintan Rachchh as Faruq, Moses Koul as Sharan, Naina Bhan as Koel, and Zeyn Shaw as Veer. The series is written by a team of five – Rajesh Devraj (Gold), Kersi Khambatta (Being Cyrus), Raghav Kakkar (Faraaz), Bhaskar Hazarika (Ravening) and Kashyap Kapoor.

All episodes of Class will be released on February 3 on Netflix.
