
Netflix’s ‘1899’ canceled after 1 season

netflix will not renew sci-fi mystery series 1899the co-creators said Monday via Instagram.
Jantje Friese and Baran bo Odar, who co-created 1899 and Dark also available on netflixposted a statement on bo Odar’s Instagram stating that the show will not be renewed on the subscription platform.
“With heavy hearts, we must tell you that 1899 will not be renewed,” the statement read. “We would have loved to end this incredible journey with a 2nd or 3rd season like we did with Dark. But sometimes things don’t go the way you planned. That’s life.”
1899 debuted on Netflix in November to critical acclaim. The German-language show is about passengers on a ship bound for New York in 1899 who encounter another ship that had gone missing months earlier. The first season left viewers with a lot of questions who will respond unless the broadcast is picked up by another service.
Netflix did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
