mPassport Police app launched by MEA to speed up police verification of passport issuance

The Department of External Affairs on Friday introduced the “mPassport Police App” to streamline and speed up the process of police verification of passport issuance.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday dedicated 350 mobile tablets to personnel of the Delhi Police Special Branch to mark the force’s Raising Day. These devices will now enable the entire police check and report submission process to become paperless, according to a statement released by the Regional Passport Office (RPO) of the Ministry of External Affairs in Delhi on Friday.
Verification using tablets will reduce verification time from 15 days to five days, thus reducing passport issuance time by ten days, according to the statement from Delhi Regional Passport Officer, Abhishek Dubey.
On Friday, the Delhi RPO said in a tweet that the office is committed to providing efficient and effective services to Digital India. The mPassport Police app will reduce verification time to 5 days.
“Hon’ble HM@AmitShah has dedicated 350 mobile tablets to Spl. Branch/Delhi Police staff. With these tablets, the whole passport application verification process will become digital and paperless and verification time will be reduced to 5 days,” the Delhi Police tweeted on Thursday.
Shah tweeted in Hindi on Thursday: “Launch of Passport Mobile app for quick passport verification. Digital verification will save time and bring transparency to police investigations.”
“These steps taken today are significant efforts in the direction of Modi-ji’s police technology mission for smart policing,” the minister added.
