Motorola Moto X40 certified with 68W and 125W charging options

The Moto X40 series is expected to arrive on December 15, when Motorola hosts an event in China. We’re expecting two devices – a vanilla Moto X40 and a Moto X40 Pro, and today’s 3C listing revealed the former will support 125W fast charging, but will also have a slower 68W option.

Currently, the 125W standard (20V/6.25A output) is the fastest for a Motorola smartphone, and we’ve seen it in the X30 Pro and Edge 30 Ultra. The XT2301-5 will be the first vanilla Moto to feature triple-digit fast charging, which would be a massive selling point for the device.
The information on the two charging options is consistent with the two entries we saw on TENAA earlier – one with a 5,000mAh battery, the other with 4,500mAh. It’s safe to say that only the latter will support 125W as the device needs physical space for the fast-charging hardware.
