Motorola Edge 40 Pro runs Geekbench with 12GB RAM on board

Motorola’s Edge 40 Pro is rumored to be coming to Western markets in the near future as a rebranded version of the Moto X40, which launched in China in December.

Today, a prototype Motorola Edge 40 Pro apparently ran Geekbench, which means it’s been inducted into the benchmark’s online hall of fame – or, more accurately, its database.

The Edge 40 Pro managed a single-core score of 1,480 and a multi-core score of 4,889 in Geekbench 5. The “rtwo” motherboard could apparently be “paired” with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, which isn’t surprising if the aforementioned rumors say it will be a rebadged Moto X40 that will actually run.

The prototype had 12GB of RAM on board when it ran the benchmark (never mind the 11GB in the listing – Geekbench always underestimates memory slightly). And guess what? The Moto X40 also has variants with precisely 12 GB of RAM. Chance? Probably not. It’s worth noting, however, that the X40 starts at 8GB of RAM, so the Edge 40 Pro could too.

The only other detail the benchmark list gives us, as usual, is what software the phone was running. In this case, it’s Android 13, to the surprise of (hopefully) no one.

If the Edge 40 Pro turns out to be identical to the X40, expect it to come with a 6.7-inch 1080×2400 165Hz OLED display, the aforementioned Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, up to 512GB of storage. storage, a triple rear camera system (50 MP main with OIS, 50 MP ultrawide with autofocus for macro shots and 12 MP 2x optical zoom), a 60 MP selfie snapper and a 4,600 mAh battery with a 125W wired charging, 15W wireless charging and 5W reverse wireless charging.
