Mikel Arteta explains how Arsenal fans have been ‘really crucial’
Mikel Arteta has recently explained how Arsenal fans have been crucial to their team this season.
The Gunners have a young, small squad, but are still vying for a spot in the Champions League next term.
And though a top-four finish would be difficult, Arteta confirmed in an interview recently that he is confident in his young side: “I’m very confident because I see how much they want it.
“We have lost points that sometimes shows the maturity that we have in the squad, but at the same time we’ve won some games that is because of the enthusiasm that we have and the energy that they bring to the team.”
Arteta added that Arsenal need to give the young players confidence and make them feel supported as that is when they are really at full capacity: “So we need to keep maintaining that balance right and give those players confidence: “When the players feel supported and that we arrive behind them with no fear, that’s when they really fulfil their capacity. It’s our job to do it.”
And, according to Arteta, Arsenal fans have been really crucial in making their players feel supported: “I think our fans have been really crucial on that as well because they’ve really felt that they are behind them.”
Can Arsenal finish in the top-four?
Arsenal are currently 6th in the Premier League, two points off 4th spot.
However, the Gunners have a game in hand on Manchester United, so would knock them out of 4th if they win.
One of the main concerns for Arsenal, however, would be that if one of their key stars got injured, they have very little depth right now following a number of exits in January.
