Metz chief provides update on Tottenham’s move for Pape Matar Sarr

The president of Ligue 1 outfit Metz has this afternoon provided an insight into Tottenham Hotspur’s swoop for midfielder Pape Matar Sarr.

Ndombele wants out

The subject of Nuno Espirito Santo’s ranks in the middle of the park has of course been thrown into the spotlight in a major way over the last 48 hours.

This comes with Spurs seemingly eyeing something of a midfield shake-up ahead of the summer transfer window slamming shut in a little over a week’s time.

First, early on Friday, word was forthcoming that one of Nuno’s current options has set his sights firmly on a move away from North London.

The player in question? Tanguy Ndombele.

As per the reliable Jack-Pitt Brooke of The Athletic, French international Ndombele, yet to feature this season, is eyeing a move to one of Real Madrid, Barcelona or Bayern Munich:

‘Advanced talks’

Swiftly following the bombshell news surrounding Ndombele, though, came widespread speculation that Daniel Levy and co. had moved swiftly to secure reinforcements, in case the ex-Lyon man does indeed manage to manoeuvre a departure.

The Lilywhites, as per a host of reports in France, swooped decisively for Metz teenage sensation Pape Matar Sarr on Friday afternoon.

In fact, some outlets went as far as to suggest that a deal was ‘almost complete’.

And, as outlined above, on Sunday, a fresh insight into the situation has been provided.

Ahead of the club’s Ligue 1 meeting with Reims this afternoon, Metz president Bernard Serin was drawn on Sarr’s future.

And the patron went on to confirm that the Grenats are indeed locked in ‘advanced talks’ with their counterparts at Tottenham, with a deal worth a fee in excess of €10 million seemingly inching closer:
