Mendy returns but key midfielder out: Tuchel provides mixed Chelsea injury update ahead of Man City
Chelsea vs Man City
Chelsea are set to face one of their toughest tests of the campaign on Saturday afternoon.
The Blues will play host to Manchester City in the day’s early Premier League kick-off.
Chelsea head into the game looking to continue their fine unbeaten start to the season, with a League Cup victory over Aston Villa in midweek their latest triumph.
Man City, on the other hand, have struggled somewhat this term, having already dropped points to Tottenham and, most recently, Southampton.
Thomas Tuchel on
Prior to Saturday’s game, Thomas Tuchel would speak to the press on Friday afternoon.
The German discussed a number of topics in his press conference, with the main focus of course on injury news.
Edouard Mendy was ruled out of Chelsea’s win over Tottenham last Sunday after taking a ‘huge hit’ vs Zenit in the Champions League.
The goalkeeper then missed out vs Villa in midweek and when speaking about him on Tuesday, Thomas Tuchel did not seem overly confident of his no.1 returning vs Man City:
Tuchel on Mendy: “Mendy cannot play and he is not training so far. We will do what we can for Saturday (to face Man City).” #CFC

And, when speaking to the press on Friday, Tuchel did confirm that Edouard Mendy is back and will start vs Man City.
However, it was not all positive news from the German in his press conference. Christian Pulisic remains out and will not feature vs Man City. And the American will be joined on the sidelines by Mason Mount, who picked up a minor injury vs Aston Villa:
Edou Mendy is set to start vs Man City.
