Meizu 20 Pro possibly spotted in AnTuTu results with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2

A few weeks ago, Meizu confirmed that it’s running on a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 phone with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage. Today this phone – or maybe one of several phones – was discovered by the AnTuTu team, which found a test result.

The phone, model number m2391, has Qualcomm’s best mobile chip. This particular unit was configured with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, although there are expected to be other configurations.

This phone is believed to be the Meizu 20 Pro, based on unofficial conversations. We don’t yet know how many phones there will be in the 20 series – is it the top-end model or the one in the middle? Previously, we’ve seen a Geekbench resulting from an m2392, which could have been a separate model or just a regional variant. It also had 12GB of RAM and ran Android 13.

Anyway, this phone has a 120Hz display with a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels. The size is still unknown, but the company has confirmed that its next phone will use a super-fast ultrasonic fingerprint reader (0.075s to unlock, even if your finger is wet).

He also said that the phone will feature 13 gaming-grade antennas, revealing which market segment the Meizu 20 Pro will target. Additionally, Meizu says the battery has been tested and will retain at least 80% of its original capacity after 1,600 daily charge cycles.

As for the benchmark score, it looks generally decent, although the CPU and UX results are below expectations for an 8 Gen 2 chipset. That’s hardly a surprise, the phone is expected to be unveiled in the spring, so the software could be months away from being finished.

The Meizu 20 Pro and the 20 series in general are a big deal as they are the first phones to be unveiled after the Geely acquisition. And hopefully, this also marks Meizu’s return to the full-time smartphone business.

By the way, Meizu is taking blind pre-orders for the Meizu 20 and apparently 200,000 people have already signed up. As a bonus, they will benefit from a 36-month warranty. Pre-orders will continue until March 14, which could give us an announcement date for the new phone(s).
