Mbalula says Covid-19 immunity passport would not be accepted from international travellers

Mbalula says Covid-19 immunity passport would not be accepted from international travellersDocuments indicating immunity against Covid-19 will not be accepted from travellers.

Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula explained that only a certified Covid-19 test certificate will be recognised and accepted from international travellers entering South Africa.

He made this known during a media briefing on the regulations on travel restrictions under level 1 lockdown.

He also emphasised the use of face masks for all passengers.

He however made some exceptions to the use of mask.

He said children below the age of two and those with medical conditions that make it difficult to breathe are free to not make use of masks.

These regulations come after the ban on international travel was lifted on Thursday.

The ban also restricts South Africans from traveling to and fro some countries considered high-risk countries.

Mbalula said all travellers must produce a test certificate not older than 72 hours.

“An immunity passport in respect of COVID-19 is not acceptable.”
