Mason Mount outlines Chelsea’s ‘big focus’
Chelsea vs Manchester United
Sunday’s marquee Premier League fixture will see Chelsea and Manchester United go head-to-head at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues headed into the weekend’s action sitting pretty atop the Premier League table on 29 points.
Manchester City, though, only trailed by three points and Liverpool also gained ground after winning on Saturday, meaning Chelsea could not afford to lose on Sunday.
On paper, this seems very unlikely. Manchester United sat 9th in the PL ahead of Sunday’s game, with a simply awful defensive record. Chelsea, on the other hand, are one of the top scorers in the league and have the best defence in the division.
And though Michael Carrick is currently in charge and would guide United to a 2-0 win over Villarreal in the Champions League on Tuesday, Man United looked pretty poor in the first-half of that clash.
In turn, one would assume that a team of Chelsea’s quality will go on to punish United in a much more convincing manner than Unai Emery’s side.
Chelsea’s big focus
Ahead of Sunday’s game, Mason Mount has outlined Chelsea’s goal for the season.
The Blues would, of course, clinch their second-ever Champions League earlier this year, with Mount providing the assist for the winner.
Now though, it appears the CL has taken a back seat in Chelsea’s list of priorities, with Mount insisting that their big focus is the Premier League:
“That’s the goal. We’re working towards that. Obviously, we’ve won the Champions League and now the big focus is the Premier League.
“That’s our big goal, that’s our big focus.
“We obviously want to keep doing well in the Champions League and other competitions but the Premier League is the big one, I think.”
“That’s our big goal, that’s our big focus.”
