Who is Marc Cucurella?

Marc Cucurella is currently plying his trade in Spain with Getafe, who he joined on a permanent basis in July of 2020.

The Spanish outfit are understood to have paid FC Barcelona £9m for Cucurella’s services after he had spent the previous campaign on loan at the club.

The La Masia youth has since gone on to feature on 86 occasions for Getafe, for who he has scored four goals and provided eight assists.

The one-time capped Spanish international would begin his career at left-back. However, he now generally operates as a left-wing-back or slightly further forward on the left-wing.

Brighton active Cucurella release clause

This would seemingly make Cucurella the perfect signing for Graham Potter’s Brighton, who have largely used the back-five system under their current boss.

And, as mentioned above Cucurella to Brighton now looks to be all wrapped up.

The Seagulls’ interest in the defender was reported back in July, with AS Roma also said to have been interested at the time:

However, Fabrizio Romano has now reported on Tuesday morning that Cucurella to Brighton is a done deal and that his release clause has been matched and paid today.

Romano adds that Brighton will pay €18m to Getafe and the Spaniard will fly to England today in order to sign his contract:

5 players Man United should target to join Paul Pogba & Bruno Fernandes in midfield

8 players who could still leave Chelsea this summer
