Manchester United vs Leeds

Manchester United’s Premier League campaign kicks off later this week.

The Red Devils begin their season at 12:30 PM UK time on Saturday, playing host to bitter rivals, Leeds United.

Owing to the pandemic, this will be the first time Manchester United and Leeds fans have been allowed in the same ground since The Whites’ return to the English top-flight.

As a result, a lively affair is anticipated, with United fans also no doubt very keen to get a proper look at new signing, Jadon Sancho.

Rashford’s surgery update

One man who will not be taking part in Saturday’s game is Marcus Rashford.

The winger had persistent injury issues during 2020/21 and it was reported last month that he could undergo surgery this summer.

At the time, it was suggested that Rashford could be out till October following any surgery.

And now, Rashford has himself confirmed that he went under the knife on Friday morning.

Taking to his official Twitter account, the Englishman wrote:

Thank you for all the well wishes. I had my surgery on Friday morning and everything went very well. A little sore but other than that I’m feeling good. Hope you’re all having a great day!

It is not yet known how long Rashford will be sidelined for, but given the above-linked report, it seems unlikely that we should expect the 23-year-old back anytime soon.
