Manchester United’s Luke Shaw claims his side are “way too easy to play against” following Liverpool humiliation

Liverpool provide Manchester United humiliation

Manchester United were provided with a severe lesson in just where they stand in English football at present as a rampant Liverpool put five past David De Gea at Old Trafford.

It could well have been more too, had the Merseyside outfit not taken their foot of the Red Devils’ throats half an hour from time. By that point, of course, the damage had already been done.

Mo Salah netted a hat-trick, while Naby Keita and Diogo Jota added two more against a Manchester United side that was cut open time and time again in front of a restless and angry home crowd, many of whom left well before the final whistle.

While Solskjaer has reiterated that he has no plans to quit his job, the decision may be taken out of his hands should they fail to pick up points, and turn in performances, in their next two fixtures against Tottenham and Manchester City.

Luke Shaw slams team-mates as “too easy” to play against

Speaking to Malaysian outlet Stadium Astro [and reported in The Athletic], Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw was quick to point the finger at himself and his team-mates for the performances, which he warned have not been good enough recently. The Englishman said:

“Like I said, I think it’s ourselves that we need to look at, first and foremost, in the mirror.

“Are we doing everything right and preparing right for the games in ourselves?

“Of course we have the tactics and how the manager wants us to play, but I think at times we’re way too easy to play against.

“I think, for example, you look at the first goal, it can’t be possible that they can have sort of three running through in the first five minutes. We need to be more compact, we need to be better and we know that.

Despite their heroics in recent games against Villareal and Atalanta in the Champions League, Shaw was the first to admit that a result like this was coming after their performances in both games, claiming:

“I think also maybe we can say this result was coming”

“I think in past games where we’ve won, we haven’t been at our best and we know that.

“We felt that inside the dressing room and today we need to reflect and we have to move on from this because it hurts.”

The major question is, is Ole the man to move them on, or is it time for him to move on?
