Manchester United set to agree two last-minute departures as Newcastle swoop

Manchester United are set to trim their squad further with two fringe players departing in the dying days of the transfer window.

Anthony Martial has already departed the club to join Spanish side Sevilla following a lack of game time at Old Trafford this season. And now, it appears it is the turn of Donny Van De Beek to seek pastures new, as the Netherlands international is set to join Everton on loan for the remainder of the season.

Having played little Premier League football so far since joining the Red Devils 18 months ago, it is clear to see why Van De Beek opted to leave the club at least temporarily, and though Crystal Palace were also interested, he choose to work under incoming boss Frank Lampard, a brilliant midfielder himself, at Everton.

With a World Cup now just 9 months away, Van De Beek will be hoping that his loan move bears fruit, and sees him get back into the Dutch National team in time for the tournament.

Henderson to follow suit

Another man itching to get his national team place back is Dean Henderson, firmly second choice at Manchester United after David De Gea’s string of brilliant displays this season.

And, as per Craig Hope of the Daily Mail, there is a “strong chance” that the goalkeeper joins Newcastle United on loan for the remainder of the season.

Should he do so, he will become the fifth senior player loaned out this January.
