Manchester United look to trump Newcastle for Kieran Trippier

Trippier on radar screen at Man United

Global giants Manchester United are primed to go toe-to-toe with cash-rich Newcastle for the services of England international and Atlético Madrid right-back Kieran Trippier.

The two outfits are a handful of Premier League sides that are rumored to be keen on the 31-year-old veteran and former Tottenham and Burnley man, who has roughly 18-months left on his current deal at the Wanda Metropolitano.

According to a report from AS, United remain keen on Trippier but will defer to the transfer plans and ideologies of incoming interim boss Ralf Rangnick, who is also set to take up a position in the hierarchy at Old Trafford after the end of the season when the Red Devils appoint a new manager.

Trippier is also being heavily tracked by Newcastle as the Magpies look to build a refreshed squad under new boss Eddie Howe, with the England international becoming the first target on Tyneside for the former Bournemouth tactician.

The Rangnick effect at Old Trafford

With Ralf Rangnick already confirmed as the interim boss at Old Trafford, his presence at the club both on the touchline and in the boardroom moving forward has created quite a buzz amongst the Man United faithful regarding what that could mean for their transfer policy moving forward.

Past comments surrounding Bundesliga-based trio Erling Haaland, Tyler Adams, and Amadou Haidara have already left potential bread crumbs regarding how the Red Devils could navigate the transfer market moving forward with the German in a key position among the United brain trust.

Despite the club’s value and ability to splash large sums of cash into the market, Rangnick’s knack for targeting young players with enormous growth potential that fit a recognized tactical and technical ethos at whatever club he is at the reigns of could signal a huge shift in how Manchester United will strive to negotiate an increasingly expensive global and domestic market.
