Rashford scores vs Tottenham

Saturday evening’s Premier League offering would see Tottenham play host to Manchester United.

The tie, ahead of kick-off, looked like a make-or-break affair for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his Man United future.

Spurs have not been in great form of late, and a loss to Nuno Espirito Santo’s team would undoubtedly have seen the Red Devils faithful calling for Solskjaer’s head.

However, when all was said and done at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the visitors came away with a resounding 3-0 victory.

The first 45 proved a cagey, quality-deprived affair, as United aimed to get to grips with a new system.

But, of course, Cristiano Ronaldo would step up to score a stunning volley 39 minutes in.

CR7 then turned provider just past the hour mark, setting up his striker partner for the day, Edinson Cavani, who made it 2-0.

This was followed by Marcus Rashford coming off the bench to put the final nail in Spurs’ coffin after 86 minutes.

Rashford responds to ‘fuming’ claims

After Rashford scored vs Tottenham, Owen Hargreaves has claimed that you could see in the Englishman’s celebration that he was fuming:

“I think you could see that in his celebration, he was fuming.

“But when two legends of the game are playing ahead of you it’s hard to complain in a sense.

“He [Solskjaer] is never going to drop Ronaldo, he needed somebody else in there and Cavani was fabulous last season. He probably deserved to start sooner.”

However, Rashford has since taken to Twitter to dismiss these comments, Tweeting the below in response to the article from the Daily Mail:

Fuming at the manager??! We won the game that celebration was pure relief! It’s been a hard week…

Rashford has started just one league game since his return from injury. But even with Solskjaer now seemingly favouring a 3-5-2, Rashford should still have a chance to play regularly as a striker.
