Man United supporters make Cristiano Ronaldo feelings clear at Stamford Bridge

The Manchester United fans in attendance at the club’s meeting with Chelsea this evening have made their feelings regarding the decision to drop Cristiano Ronaldo to the bench clear for all to see.

All square

The Red Devils, at present, are of course locked in a Premier League bout with the aforementioned Chelsea.

After steadying the ship to at least some degree courtesy of a 2-0 downing of Villarreal in the Champions League during the week, interim boss Michael Carrick turned his attentions back towards matters on the domestic front, hopeful of guiding United away from the depths of mid-table.

And, to their credit, with 45 minutes played in west London, the visitors have managed to keep themselves in with a chance of exactly that.

This comes with the scoreline currently goalless, on the back of a half dominated by Chelsea when it comes to possession, albeit with little to show for their efforts in terms of clear-cut chances in front of goal.

Antonio Rudiger has come closest to breaking the deadlock thus far, rattling an effort from distance off David de Gea’s crossbar:

‘Viva Ronaldo’

Whilst, to this point, United have managed to remain competitive at Stamford Bridge, though, evidently some feel that the Manchester giants’ chances of springing a genuine shock on Chelsea would be considerably improved through a change up top.

Ahead of kick-off this evening, the main talking point across the media of course came in the form of Michael Carrick’s shock decision to drop Cristiano Ronaldo to the bench.

In turn, amid a frankly lifeless display going forward, it came as little surprise when widespread chants of ‘Viva Ronaldo’ began to make their way across the away stand in the capital:
