Two of world football’s international heavyweights are of course currently doing battle at the San Siro.

After getting the better of Italy and Belgium respectively during the week, Spain and France have gone head-to-head, in the finale of the UEFA Nations League.

Both nations headed into proceedings no doubt brimming with confidence, having thoroughly impressed in their respective semi-final outings.

With 45 minutes on the clock in Milan, the scoreline remains locked at 0-0, on the back of a tightly-contested first-half.

Varane concern

As outlined above, though, amid a cagey affair on Sunday evening, one major talking point was forthcoming shortly before the interval.

Unfortunately for both Didier Deschamps’ France, and Premier League outfit Manchester United, this came on the personnel front, when Raphael Varane was forced to limp out of proceedings.

After stretching to cut out a delivery from the right, the ex-Real Madrid man immediately pulled up grimacing.

In turn, after attempting to run the problem off, Varane was eventually forced to ground, with a medical check on the part of Les Bleus’ physio team having ultimately culminated in his exit from the action:

It now remains to be seen whether Varane faces a spell on the sidelines, but any form of considerable absence would mark a major blow for Manchester United, who are of course already without the services of key defender Harry Maguire as things stand.
