Major Karim Benzema update emerges ahead of Madrid derby
The battle for La Liga
Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid face off this weekend knowing that a win for Los Blancos would effectively rule Atleti out of the running for the La Liga crown this year.
Looking to retain the trophy that they pipped their cross city rivals to last campaign, Diego Simeone’s side have struggled so far, and find themselves a full ten points behind Real, although they do have a game in hand on Carlo Ancelotti’s side.

Win both that and the derby, and they will cut Real’s lead to just four points, but should they slip a full ten points behind with a defeat, it is hard too see them catching back up and overtaking Los Blancos.
Now, it appears that Real Madrid have been handed a major boost on the injury front.
Alongside Vinicius Junior, Karim Benzema has again been the star of the show for Los Blancos, but hobbled off last weekend with what looked like a potential hamstring injury.

However, as per Spanish press, he will have recovered in time for the game against Atleti.
