Liverpool’s Sadio Mane outlines goal target for 2021/22
Sadio Mane’s 2020/21
Liverpool as a squad had a pretty poor 2020/21 overall.
This, of course, was partly due to the serious injury woes they suffered throughout the squad during the Covid-19-hit campaign.
But even without injuries a couple of Liverpool stars did underperform somewhat across the season.
One of which was Sadio Mane who, despite hitting 11 goals and eight assists in the league, did have a pretty poor campaign by his standards.
Mane was seemingly aware of this himself as he would undergo tests to check that nothing was physically wrong with him.
Mane’s 2021/22 goal target
Now, in a recent interview, Mane has been discussing how disappointed he was last season:
“I was so disappointed with last season, and passionately so, as I thought I could have done more. Whereas I might have been scoring between 18 and 22 goals a season, then on that occasion it was no longer the case so, of course, I was going to be disappointed.”
In the same interview, Mane has outlined his goal target for the current campaign.
The Senegal international has so far played three Premier League games for Liverpool this term.
Liverpool would win two and draw one of these ties, with Mane opening his goal-scoring account in the 2nd match of the season vs Burnley.
And now, Mane has suggested that he wants to score 30 goals in 2021/22:
“I want to score goals, and set up team-mates, even to score 30 goals.
“Why not? The more the better as far as I’m concerned and my ambition for the team is to win trophies. Everybody is hungry for that.”
