Liverpool are hosting Sean Dyche’s Burnley as they look to continue their fine start to the campaign, smashing Norwich 3-0 last weekend.

The Reds do have a pretty excellent record against the Clarets, though they did lose to them at Anfield last season.

But Liverpool would put out a strong eleven on Saturday which saw Diogo Jota retain his place up top and Jordan Henderson come into midfield.

And it would be Jota who fired Liverpool into the lead on Saturday, heading home from a Kostas Tsimikas cross.

Then, despite a few scares from Burnley, Jurgen Klopp’s side continued to dominate and would double their lead after 68 minutes.

Trent Alexander-Arnold played a lovely dinked ball over the top to Mane, who smashed his effort past Nick Pope:

Mane closing in on Drogba record

On the back of Mane’s first goal of the season vs Burnley, an interesting stat has come to light.

Mane has now scored 96 Premier League goals during his stints at Southampton and Liverpool, the 4th most of any African player to ever play in the Premier League.

Chelsea legend Didier Drogba currently holds the record with 104, but with Mane still only 29 and looking set to spend at least the remainder of this season at Liverpool, there does appear to be a good chance that the Senegal international breaks Drogba’s record.

Mane’s teammate Mohamed Salah is also in the running to break the record, currently sitting on 98 PL goals, which Liverpool star will break the record first?
