Ben Davies set to depart on loan

Firstly, it appears as though Ben Davies is set to depart the club without making a senior appearance, at least for the time being. The former Preston North End defender, signed in January, is set to join Sheffield United on loan for the season, as per the reliable Paul Joyce.

With Ibrahim Konate joining the club, and the defensive trio of Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip all returning from injury, it seems as though a loan move is certainly the best option for the Englishman.

Henderson set to agree new contract

In some good news, Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson is set to complete a u-turn and sign a new deal on Merseyside, according to the reliable David Ornstein.

The midfielder had been thought to be one of the Liverpool players not to be offered a new deal just weeks ago, but is now set to be offered a new 3 year deal for Jurgen Klopp’s side. As per Ornstein, it was the manager that had a key say in the decision, with Klopp not wanting to lose his captain any time soon.

Liverpool dealt blow as Harvey Barnes set to sign new deal

However, Liverpool have been dealt a contract blow as one-time transfer target Harvey Barnes is set to sign a new contract at Leicester City.

As per the same source, a four-year deal has been agreed for Barnes to extend his stay at the King Power Stadium, with “vastly improved” terms on his current deal. Liverpool were thought to be interested in the winger as they look for wide cover for Mohammed Salah and Sadio Mane, but never formally made an approach for Barnes.

However, a new deal makes any future move seemingly impossible.
